Do I need to book an appointment?
Yes, all appointments at Frances Day are private and exclusively reserved for you. We kindly ask that you book your appointment online or contact us directly to arrange your visit.
How long will my appointment last?
Your bridal consultation lasts up to 90 minutes, allowing you to enjoy our undivided attention in the comfort of our studio. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to explore our collections, refine your vision, and receive expert guidance as you discover the gown that feels unmistakably yours.
What if I can’t make my appointment?
Should you need to reschedule your appointment, we kindly request a minimum of 72 hours’ notice. If you need to cancel, please contact us directly and we will be happy to assist.
When should I start shopping for my dress?
We recommend beginning your bridal journey approximately 12 months before your wedding day. Every bride’s timeline is unique, and whether you are ready to find your gown or simply wish to begin exploring possibilities, we will guide you through the process at a pace that feels right for you.
Working to a shorter timeframe? We will always do our utmost to accommodate your wedding date and find the perfect solution.
Who should I bring?
We welcome up to three guests to accompany you during your appointment. We encourage you to invite those whose opinions you truly value and who understand your personal bridal vision. A carefully chosen support circle often makes the experience more enjoyable and helps keep the focus on what feels right for you.
What should I wear?
For the most seamless fitting experience, we recommend skin toned underwear. A bra is not essential for trying on gowns, although a strapless bra may be helpful if you prefer additional support.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If you have them, feel free to bring shoes similar in heel height to those you plan to wear on your wedding day. While not essential, they can help you visualise your complete bridal look.
To protect our gowns, we kindly ask that you avoid heavy makeup, fake tan, body oils, and moisturisers on the day of your appointment.
How much do your gowns cost?
Our made-to-order bridal collections are priced from £2,000 to £5,000+. We also offer a carefully curated selection of ready-to-wear sample gowns, available from £750. Please note that alterations are charged separately.
Do I need an appointment for accessories?
Yes. We offer dedicated styling appointments for brides wishing to explore veils and accessories, available for £20.
For Frances Day brides, accessories can also be styled during your Atelier appointments should you wish to complete your bridal look after selecting your gown.
How is payment taken?
Unless otherwise agreed at the time of purchase, payment is divided into two instalments: a 50% deposit is required when your order is placed, with the remaining 50% due upon arrival of your gown at Frances Day.
Do you accept refunds or exchanges?
Selecting your wedding gown is an important decision, and we take great care to ensure you feel completely confident before placing your order. As all gowns are made to order, all sales are considered final. However, you may cancel your order within seven days of purchase and receive a full refund, less any applicable administration fees.
Further details can be found in our Terms & Conditions.
Will you have a dress that fits me?
Absolutely. Every gown within our collections is made to order and crafted to your measurements. We carry a range of sample sizes in our studio and have extensive experience helping brides envision how each design will look once created specifically for them.
Your measurements will typically be taken approximately six months before your wedding day.
What about alterations?
Frances Day offer an in-house Atelier and specialist bridal seamstress service. While you are under no obligation to use our alterations team, many brides enjoy the convenience and expertise of having their gown perfected within our studio.
Alterations are not included in the price of your gown. Dedicated fitting appointments take place on Wednesdays.
Can I take photographs?
Of course. We are delighted for you to take photographs of your favourite gowns to help you reflect on your experience afterwards. That said, we always encourage brides to focus on how they feel in a gown. Often, the most important part of finding ‘the one’ is the feeling it gives you, rather than a single photograph.
Is there a charge for appointments?
Our private bridal consultations are £35.
Follow-up appointments are £25, and we also offer a dedicated complementary hour for brides who are ready to revisit their favourite two dress and confidently say yes to their gown.
Is there parking available?
Customer parking is available directly outside Frances Day Bridal, alongside complimentary on-street parking throughout The Burgage. Alternatively, King Street Car Park is just a two-minute walk away and offers two hours of free parking.
Where can we eat and drink nearby?
We are fortunate to be surrounded by a wonderful selection of independent cafés, restaurants, and wine bars—perfect for celebrating, reflecting, and discussing your bridal experience afterwards.
Our favourites include The Old Theatre Deli, Sage, Little Brunette Bakery, The Wine Bank, and The Refectory.
For a special brunch, lunch, or celebratory dinner, we also recommend The Old Vol at Caythorpe and The Old Lodge at Maythorne, both just a short drive away.
Advance booking is recommended.
Do you offer a dry-cleaning service?
Yes. We are proud to partner with bridal and heirloom garment specialists Terrington Burchett, offering professional cleaning and preservation services for your gown after your wedding day.
All dry-cleaning services can be booked directly through our website here.
