Jenny - Seamstress

Take it away Jenny…

“I have a crazy warped sense of humour, you need it to do this job but don’t worry, I can be calm to the point that it’s questioned; you’re in totally safe hands and pins! As for experience, I used to be a fabric cutter on the top floor of what is now Brew Dog on Broad Street, Nottingham. My Mum taught me to use a sewing machine at the age of eight and from that moment, sewed occasionally through the years. I’ve been a hairdresser, a bar and restaurant manager, the best sweet shop server in Southwell (still on King Street if you fancy a pre appointment sugar boost) and I’ve processed many insurance claims for a freight operator”.

You are the Sewing Queen…

“On being made redundant after my son Ethan was born in 2008, I used my package to buy my first machine, I’ve never looked back. I’ve never had the time to look back, I’m too busy sewing! The best job I’ve ever had, other than altering bridal gowns is being a Mum, with five boys and a husband (and best friend ever) to keep in line… I can always shout the loudest, and apparently, according to them ‘I wear the trousers’ of which I can guarantee, are tailored to perfection!”

Jenny’s Top Tip…

“Remember why you’re doing this. If it rains, if the food is rubbish, someone sits in the wrong seat, they’re all part of the memories. The most important thing is that you went there to get married, that’s all that matters and when you wake up the next day, you’re a newlywed.”

Jenny’s Guidance…

“Do not worry about the dress, that’s my job to worry about. It won’t leave the shop unless I think it’s perfect. I only have OCD about one thing… The Dress!!”
