Julia - FDB Founder

So it goes a little something like this …

In August 2016, just before her own wedding Julia set about creating her vision of a space in Nottinghamshire for brides to come, relax and have a giggle whilst browsing through the most elegant selection of gowns. Here’s her story.

“I grew up surrounded by women that could sew, knit and generally turn their hands to 'creating'. I count myself extremely lucky that from a very young age, I knew I wanted to work in the fashion industry and have my Grandma and Mum to thank for this. Fast forward a few years, a degree in Fashion Design and experience working in design studios in London, New York and Sydney I finally found myself working as a buyer for a leading UK high street retailer. The experience was wonderful, working with teams and factories all around the world - but I always knew this wouldn't be my 'forever' job”.

With this wealth of experience Julia & her small team are passionate about not only finding their brides the most divine bridal look, but also the experience and yes, we’re using the ‘J’ word… journey to the end of that aisle and beyond.

So how does she do it?

Well, lets be honest, there isn’t much our Julia can’t or won’t do to keep her team and wonderful brides happy and beaming, creating an aspirational space for everyone. From appointments and fitting to book keeping, social media and of course selecting our exquisite range and buying your beautiful gowns.

“I thrive off making people feel good. It really is the best feeling for me and getting to do this alongside my other love of couture is the best. I am lucky that every day I come to work surrounded by a wonderful team of like minded women who want to lift, empower and elevate not only each other, but most of all our clients”.

Julia’s Top Tip…

“On the morning of your wedding, get up half an hour earlier than you'd planned and go for a walk. It will be the only time of day that you will have pure wonderful dawn break silence to collect your thoughts ready for the best day ever!”

Julia’s Gems…

“Don't sweat the small stuff. It's horrible to think, but there is a chance that something won't run completely to plan on your wedding day. Yes, on paper this is devastating after all the weeks, months, years of planning but, the good news is nobody will notice - I promise. Everyone, including yourself, will be so wrapped up in the joys of the day and be having far to good a time to notice that the 'refresher' kit wasn't placed in the ladies as per the plan...”
